US Halts Millions of Dollars in Egyptian Aid

The United States says it is withholding hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid and cash assistance to Egypt, until authorities in Washington see "credible progress" toward free elections and a democratic civilian government. A State Department release described the move as a halt in the delivery of "certain large-scale military systems." It did not elaborate.
