Reporters Without Borders welcomes the amendment that Costa Rica's parliamentarians made to a controversial bill on computer technology crimes on first reading yesterday. Journalists had been very critical of the first draft of the proposed law. The amendment eliminated an article about the dissemination of “secret political information,” which carried a sentence of four to eight years in prison.
