Raid and arrests at one of Egypt’s few independent news outlets

NewsReporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns the past weekend’s raid on the Cairo headquarters of the online newspaper Mada Masr and the arrests of four its journalists, in the Egyptian regime’s latest escalation in its harassment and persecution of independent journalists.The first to be arrested was Shady Zalat, one of the editors at Mada Masr, whose site has been blocked in Egypt since June 2017.
