75 Years On, D-Day Veterans Return to Omaha Beach

75 years ago, thousands of American troops were preparing to take part in D-Day – when Allied forces crossed the English Channel from Britain to invade German-occupied France on the beaches of Normandy. They faced ferocious resistance – but ‘Operation Overlord’ was ultimately successful, and Nazi Germany fell eleven months later. Several D-Day veterans have returned to Normandy for the anniversary.
