US - RSF joins statement urging the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to reinstate its free press act

NewsRSF, the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA), and other free press advocates condemn the Muscogee (Creek) Nation's decision to repeal its press freedom law, which was implemented in 2015 to grant editorial independence to the tribe’s media division. The repeal of this law placed local tribally-funded media outlet Mvskoke Media under the tribe’s executive branch, dissolved the agency’s editorial board, and placed staff under the direction of the Secretary of the Nation and Commerce.
