13 March 2018The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killing of Syrian journalist Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin in Eastern Ghouta (Syria) on 20 February. “I deplore the death of Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin,” the Director-General said. “I call on all parties to mobilize in order to guarantee the safety of reporters and enable them to carry out their mission without fearing for their lives.” Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin worked as a freelance photographer for Agence France-Presse (AFP) and the Hammouriyeh and Ghouta Media Centres.
