At the U.S. Open on Saturday, it was the first time since 1998 that the women's draw was won by an American not named Serena or Venus. Stephens, who had been ranked 957th in the world in July, defeated fellow American Madison Keys. The Williams sisters have won 30 of the last 75 finals and have combined for eight U.S. Open trophies.
