Refugee Track Team To Make History At World Athletics Championships

by Jeff DonlanFrom refugee camp to race track.Five refugee athletes will be competing at the World Athletics Championships in London, a first for the 34-year-old track and field competition.The refugees, who hail from Somalia, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, trained side-by-side with Kenya’s national team, running through the countryside outside Nairobi.Anjelina Lohalith has a second chance at her dream after competing in the 2016 Rio Games with the Olympics’ first refugee team.“This is my time I have to polish my talent and to show people all over the world that a refugee can make it,” said the 23-year-old Lohalith.The competition runs from Saturday through Aug. 13.
