Catholic nun legally hunts a deer; self-righteous 'activists' freak out

ST. MARY'S, PENNSYLVANIA — Nuns are allowed to hunt, too, you know. On the first day the hunting season, November 30, 2015, Sister John Paul Bauer, a Catholic nun with the Eerie Catholic Diocese in Pennsylvania, carried her hunting rifle up to her tree stand, got out her rosary, and started praying — for a deer she could shoot. After several hours of patience and prayer, Bauer bagged a 10-point buck. She posted a picture of her kill on the church Facebook page, noting the animal was butchered for meat, which was shared with two families. Over a million people saw the post and initial responses were reportedly positive, but as the days wore on, "activists" and other bullies came out of the woodwork criticizing Sister Bauer for violating the Biblical edict, "Thou shalt not kill." Some even called the picture of the nun standing next to the dead deer "obscene." As the controversy gained steam, the diocese removed the photo to try to calm things down. But the nun and her kill have now been reported on by media outlets across the planet. Sister John Paul Bauer learned to shoot while serving in the U.S. Navy, after which she became a nun and a Catholic high school teacher. She says hunting has been a part of her family since she was young and she treats hunting and the animals she kills with respect. Why do you think so many people got up in arms over a single buck that was killed legally — and from what we know, as humanely as possible? The Sister shared her kill with several families and the animal was hunted for food.
