Reporters Without Borders condemns the government's announced closure of five opposition radio stations in the Beni region of the eastern province of Nord-Kivu in a communiqué marked by irregularities. This type of measures makes it easier for the intelligence services to move against local media. Information minister Lambert Mendé announced the closures of the stations and the withdrawal of their licences in a communiqué broadcast by Radio Télévision Nationale Congolaise (RTNC) on 14 November.
