Mobile Beatles pop-up shops hit New York and Los Angeles

The heyday of Beatlemania may have been nearly 50 years ago, but The Beatles and their music remain a hot commodity. Mobile pop-up shops in the form of double-decker buses made stops in Los Angeles and New York to promote the release of the band's 14 remastered vinyl albums in stereo. Audiophiles appreciated the sound quality of the 180-gram LPs. SOUNDBITE: Joanne Bennett, Beatles fan, saying (English): "I think the vinyl sound is very warm. It has that sort of sound about it that CDs and digital downloads don't have. You might get the clarity but you don't get that warmth that you get with a vinyl record. There's something about putting on the vinyl record and putting that needle on it with that sound that you just can't replicate on CD." The boxed set of vinyl records marks the third remastered incarnation of the 14 albums. Although the band split up in 1970, their albums continue to sell well in multiple formats. In 2009, the catalogue were remastered and released on CD, which sold 17 million albums in seven months. In 2010, the albums were released digitally on iTunes.
