Clashes in Turkey during Kurdish hunger strike protest

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Scuffles broke out between pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy party deputies and Turkish police on Sunday in Diyarbakir, the largest city of the mostly-Kurdish south-east, during a protest in support of hunger strikers. Over 700 Kurdish prisoners have been on hunger strike for over 60 days, calling for greater human rights. Their three main demands are to end the solitary confinement of the leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party Abdullah Ocalan, right to represent themselves in court and the right to study in Kurdish. Skirmishes erupted when police charged protesters, hitting them with batons and jostling several Kurdish deputies including Aysel Tugluk, a woman from the BDP.
