NYPD airlifts stranded residents to safety

New York police rescue crews airlift residents on Staten Island - left stranded in the wake of superstorm Sandy. Five adults and a child were rescued. Images of the dramatic rescues were released by the New York Police Department. Battered by a record storm surge of nearly 14 feet of water, swaths of New York City remain submerged under several feet of floodwater. Superstorm Sandy - which has killed at least 40 people in the U.S. - was expected to move toward western New York and Canada.
