(1206 CR M16) SULFURIC ACID LEAKDATELINE: Dec. 6, 2011LENGTH: 00:00:52VOSOTA concentrated sulfuric acid leak accident occurred on Monday in east China's Jiangxi province.According to a spokesman with the local government, about 20 tonnes of concentrated sulfuric acid at Jiujiang Tianci New Material Ltd. in Hukou county leaked Monday afternoon and led to billowing acid smoke over the area.No casualty was caused in the leak.The company has implemented emergency measures to collect the acid with the help of local firefighters and environmental protection departments.SOUNDBITE: XU SANSHAN, JIUJIANG TIANCI NEW MATERIAL LTD."The acid smoke has some impact to the environment, but it is still within our control." As of Monday night, about 18 tonnes of the acid had been cleared, but the heavy acid smoke remained hovering over the area. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
