Egyptian women protesters forced to take ‘virginity tests’

Wednesday 23 March 2011 Women protesters cleared from Tahrir Square on 9 March were forced to have ‘virginity tests' after being beaten and given electric shocks by soldiers. Amnesty International has today called on the Egyptian authorities to investigate serious allegations of torture, including forced ‘virginity tests’, inflicted by the army on women protesters arrested in Tahrir Square earlier this month.
