A PROTEST IS PLANNED FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE ENTRANCE TO CFB ESQUIMALT AS THE CANADA FIRST IMMIGRATION REFORM COMMITTEE RALLIES AGAINST THE ARRIVAL OF THE MV SUN SEA.
DIRECTOR OF THE COMMITTEE, PAUL FROMM SAYS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS MAKING A MISTAKE BY ACCEPTING MIGRANTS FROM THE VESSEL.
"We don't have to accept this boat. The problem is because of our very deficient laws, the minute they get into Canadian Territory they can make refugee claims and they're ours for years. They may be ours forever."
"The illegals are being kept at CFB Esquimalt for the first few days, so that's the closest we can get to them, so we're going to have our protest. We're not seeking any confrontation with them; the message is to the Canadian Government."
FROMM SAYS ACCEPTING THE MIGRANTS MAKES A MOCKERY OF CANADIAN SECURITY. HE QUESTIONS WHY THE GOVERNMENT DIDN'T TURN THE VESSEL AWAY BEFORE IT REACHED CANADIAN WATERS.
