Le ministère de l'Éducation du Québec aurait toléré depuis 1985 qu'un collège public, le Cégep Marie-Victorin, offre à trois écoles juives orthodoxes des cours qui contre-viendraient au curriculum pédagogique, car on y aurait introduit des éléments à caractère religieux. Ce qui est nié par son directeur académique, Éli Meroz, qui précise que les cours offerts respectent les normes de l'enseignement collégial public et ne sont pas dispensés par des rabbins.
