China. Southern Mongolian political prisoner still illegally detained by authorities
The folowing is a phone interview with Ms Hanshuulan, 86-years old, mother of Hada’s wife Xinna, by SMHRIC. Until just recently, Ms. Hanshuulan had been prohibited by the Chinese authorities from talking to any foreign news media and human rights organizations in an effort to prevent the flow of any information about Hada and his family members to the outside. Southern Mongolians Fighting for the Right to Sign Documents in Mongolian
New York -One indication of the violation of basic human rights of the Southern (Inner) Mongolians in the "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region" by the Chinese authorities is the denial of the right to sign their names in Mongolian on any formal documents. Yet, as part of the effort to reclaim their national identity and restore their basic human rights through non-violent resistance, Southern Mongolians are fighting to secure this right within China’s existing legal framework. Eastern Southern (Inner) Mongolia. Detainees Freed, but Informers Punished
Following three days of protests by Mongolians of Tulee Gachaa (gachaa is equivalent to village), Naiman Banner (Banner is equivalent to county) of eastern Southern (Inner) Mongolia, the Chinese authorities in Naiman Banner finally freed all twenty two detainees who were arrested while attempting to stop the bulldozer of a Chinese state-run forestry company from leveling and occupying the Gachaa’s land. Protests continue in Southern (Inner) Mongolia
The protests continued in Southern (Inner) Mongolia’s Naiman Banner (banner is equivalent to county) after a violent clash took place yesterday between several hundred local Mongolians of Tulee Gachaa (gachaa is equivalent to village) and more than 80 police from the Banner Public Security Bureau, resulting in the arrests of 22 Mongolians with 5 seriously injured.
