Man Faces Backlash For Hugging Officers In Riot Gear During Charlotte Protests

In the middle of all the violence one man was giving away free hugs. Rioters filled the Charlotte, North Carolina streets protesting the shooting death of 43-year-old Keith Scott. The Free Hug Project was one way people were trying to spread the message of love during a critical moment fueled by fear and hate. Some protestors were outraged by the hugs but eventually understood. At one point during the night one officer on duty had to say thank you for his hard work.
