Children with Down Syndrome Face Unique Challenges in Kosovo

In Kosovo, there are more than 700 registered cases of children with Down Syndrome, but the number of those born with the genetic disorder, caused by an extra chromosome, may be higher. Even though 35 to 40 babies are born with the syndrome each year, registration is a problem; many parents are ashamed to their child's illness. As VOA's Albanian service reporter Edlira Bllaca learned, humanitarian organizations are fighting the stigma. Her report is narrated by Keida Kostreci.
