Indigenous rangers are the 'eyes and the ears' of our land – video

Wardekken ranger and fire management leader, Dean Yilbarbuk, responds to Labor’s federal election campaign promise to provide $200m to 2021 to double the number of Indigenous rangers across the country. The Coalition has made no funding commitment to the program beyond 2018. Yilbarbuk says the rangers provide a safeguard for land management in Australia and are the ‘eyes and ears’ of the land. He was involved in trying to convince the federal government to extend the ranger program earlier this year.
