Race favorite Nyquist won the 142nd Kentucky Derby on Saturday, becoming the eighth unbeaten horse to win the first jewel in the Triple Crown of American Thoroughbred horse racing. The colt beat out 19 other competitors in the hectic 1¼-mile (2-kilometer) race.
