Victim Of Acid Attack Inspires Change In Uganda

Today, Acid attack survivor told activist organization, "Take Part" while living in Uganda that she was pulled out of her car and a stranger poured acid all over face and body. She sustained acid burns over 70 % of her body and was left blind in one eye. Today she is fighting the continuance of these horrific acts as the managing director of Center for Rehabilitation of Survivors of Acid and Burns Violence in Kampala, Uganda. Kankunda stands as an inspirational beacon in a country where a bottle of sulphuric acid can be purchased at a gas station for about a dollar. Kankunda was able to help push through legislation that limits the sale of acid and anyone convicted of executing an acid attack could spend the rest of their life in prison.
