Tsunami Warning Issued for Indonesia After Strong Quake

Indonesia warned of dangerous tsunamis after a massive and shallow earthquake hit off the west coast of the island of Sumatra, in an area devastated by the catastrophic Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004. The quake, measured at magnitude 7.9 by the U.S. Geological Survey, hit several hundred kilometers offshore, at a depth of 10 km.
