US Job Creation Lower in August

The Labor Department says the U.S. economy added only 142,000 jobs in August, much less than expected.         Economists had forecast that the U.S. government's report would show 220,000 additional jobs last month.   The report, issued Friday, also shows the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent from 6.2 percent in July as fewer people sought jobs.
