Hamas belatedly agreed Sunday to a new 24-hour humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza, but Israel said it would continue to bomb tunnels militants use to smuggle weapons and fighters into the Jewish state. Israel did not immediately respond to the Hamas statement it would agree to a new cease-fire before the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
