Germany Eliminates France from World Cup

Germany has eliminated France, 1-0, in World Cup quarterfinal action in Rio de Janeiro. German defender Mats Hummels leaped above a French defender in the thirteenth minute of the first half and guided a header into the net from 10 meters out. France has beaten Germany in four of their past six matches, but last won the World Cup in 1998. A German team has not won the Cup since 1990, when the former West Germany took the title.
