Khmer Rouge Tribunal Hearing Set for July

Ahead of a full trial later this year, the UN-backed Khmer Rouge Tribunal will hold an initial hearing July 30 for two aging regime leaders. Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan are being tried in two phases for atrocity crimes, including genocide. The first phase was completed earlier this year and focused mainly on the forced evacuation of Phnom Penh.
