Dozens killed in Afghanistan flash floods

This ariel view shows the scale of the devastation in northern Afghanistan. Deadly flash floods caused by heavy rain have washed away hundreds of buildings, bridges and crops, only a dirty river remains. More than 50 people have been killed and hundreds have been forced to leave their homes. Back on land, these people in Baghlan survived the disaster but desperately need supplies. (SOUDBITE) (Dari) AYUB RAHMAN, RESIDENT OF THE FLOODED AREA, SAYING: "We urge the government to provide first aid for those who have lost their homes in floods so they can survive." Others wait for news of their loved ones, who are still missing. Flooding and landslides are not uncommon during the rainy season and villagers here have scant shelter to protect them from the rising water and mud.
