CN- Historic Rout in India with Opposition Landslide Victory

India’s opposition party has won a resounding mandate in the country’s general election, capturing a majority, on its own, of more than 280 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament. The outcome after a six-week marathon election marks a historic loss for India’s original political party, Congress, which captured fewer than 50 seats, and brings into question the future of the Gandhi family dynasty.
