Separate attacks in Pakistan kill nine

Crowds gather in Pakistan where two separate attacks kill nine people. In one attack, a morning rush hour bomb struck a crowded market in the country's volatile northwest. One official said the target was a police van. (SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) LOCAL POLICEMAN AAMIR NAWAB SAYING: "When they reached a crossing, a motorcycle was parked there. The remote bomb was planted on it. While the police van was still waiting at the crossing, there was an explosion. Eleven of our boys have been injured in the blast, and around 20 civilians were also injured." The bombing killed three, injured 33 others, and damaged several local shops. (SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) LOCAL CHICKEN SELLER SAMI ULLAH SAYING: "I was loading chickens onto an auto rickshaw when there was an explosion. At first we ran in. Then we saw that many people had fallen, so we came out to pick them up." A separate attack left six people dead, including five policemen, in a shooting in Peshawar.
