Missing Jet Search Effort Intensifies, More Debris Recovered

Nine aircraft and eight ships covered more than 97,000 square miles on Sunday in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. In Sydney, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that the intensifying search effort was positive because objects have been recovered from the ocean. A number of objects were retrieved from the search area — an area roughly the size of Poland — on Saturday, but those objects have been described as fishing equipment and other flotsam and are are not believed to be related to the plane, which vanished on March 8.
