Franklin rocks White House, Bono makes plea for European unity

The White House rocked out on Thursday (March 06) as soul singers spanning different generations performed for a "women of soul" concert. Among those participating were Melissa Etheridge, Patti LaBelle, Janelle Monae, and Aretha Franklin - who all joined on stage for a collaboration of "Proud Mary." The concert, called "In Performance at the White House," will be broadcast on April 7 in the U.S. on PBS. Bono, the lead singer of Irish rock group U2, appeared at the European People's Party Congress in Dublin on Friday. The singer addressed senior European politicians making a plea for greater unity among European countries. The movie "Need for Speed" premiered in Los Angeles on Thursday (March 06). Stars arrived in muscle cars, and Aaron Paul got a surprise when his vintage Ford overheated on the red carpet, causing steam to billow out from the hood.
