Crimea remains calm despite Russian troop presence

A calm morning in Ukraine's Crimea territory. As pedestrians go about their normal business in Simferopol, pro-Russia militia members remain on guard in the city's squares. One resident hopes the conflict, which centers on the geo-political future of the mainly Russian-speaking region, does not turn violent. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) SIMFEROPOL RESIDENT, MOHAMED, SAYING: "I don't know what will happen, but I want peace, everything to be resolved peacefully and for democratic elections, that's it." The streets were mostly empty of the Russian troops that catapulted the area into the biggest confrontation between Russia and the West since the Cold War. Overnight, about 300 Russian-speaking troops in armored vehicles with black Russian license plates arrived outside Sevastopol.
