Major military cuts on the way

Big cuts are coming to the U.S. military. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel proposed on Monday shrinking the U.S. Army to its smallest size since before World War II. The proposed budget cuts come at a time when the U.S. military is winding down its war overseas. SOUNDBITE: U.S. DEFENSE SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL, SAYING: "As we end our combat mission in Afghanistan, this will be the first budget to fully reflect the transition DOD is making for after 13 years of war." As part of the cuts, the Pentagon also plans to eliminate the popular A-10 aircraft attack jets. Hagel admits any time there are budget cuts, there's an increased risk. SOUNDBITE: U.S. DEFENSE SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL, SAYING: "You have fewer troops, fewer ships, fewer planes, readiness is not the same standard. Of course there is going to be risk.
