Kiev demonstrators rally into the night as opposition leaders meet with the presidency

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Ukrainian anti-government protesters stood firm in Kiev on Wednesday night, burning barricades in Independence Square after authorities tried to clear them off the day before in what became a bloody assault. Opposition leaders met with Ukrainian President Yanukovich on Wednesday evening as EU foreign ministers from France, Germany and Poland said they would visit Kiev on Thursday morning, hours before an emergency EU meeting in Brussels on Ukraine. Western powers have threatened sanctions over the death of 26 people on Tuesday in the worst violence since Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union.
