A storm of misery in the Northeast

Flights are going nowhere in Albany, New York. More than 2,000 flights were canceled early on Wednesday morning, with more than 250 delayed. A heavy winter storm bore down on the U.S. East Coast Wednesday, prompting states of emergency in New Jersey and New York. In Massachusetts roads are blanketed in snow. Authorities are doing what they can to clear the way. Some are dreaming of summer. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MAN, SAYING: "I am hoping this thing is done. I cannot wait for the warm weather, be back at the beach, enjoying it, getting a tan, you know." In New York City even travel by foot has its risks. Scenes from Pennsylvania show downed trees and empty streets, with reports of power outages hitting 720,000 customers. At a New Jersey train station, passengers hope for the best. As of Jan. 26, the state had already spent $60 million on snow removal, putting it on pace to break the record of $62.5 million spent last year
