Cruise cut short after hundreds get sick

Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas is on its way back to its home port in New Jersey. The 10-day cruise was cut short after more than 300 passengers got sick with a gastrointestinal illness. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PASSENGER SAL PANTO, SAYING: "They've been all out, wiping everything down. The wall, the railing, the swimming pool, the suit, handles - everything." Inspectors from the Centers for Disease Control boarded the ship in the Virgin Islands to determine the cause of the outbreak that caused diarrhea and vomiting. Symptoms have been consistent with the highly contagious norovirus. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DR. ROBERT GLATTER, EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN, LENOX-HILL HOSPITAL, SAYING: "Typically it spreads from person to person, but it also lives on surfaces so it can spread from touch."
