'12 Years a Slave' wins big at Critics' Choice Awards, Redford opens Sundance

"12 Years a Slave," Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey were among big winners at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards on Thursday (January 16), taking honors for best picture, actress and actor. "American Hustle" was named best comedy and was given the best acting ensemble prize, with Amy Adams winning best comedy actress while Leonardo DiCaprio won best comedy actor for "The Wolf of Wall Street." During the opening day of the Sundance Film Festival, co-founder Robert Redford said at his annual press conference that he did not want the fact that he had not received an Oscar nomination for his role in "All is Lost" to detract from the festival. He said it would have been wonderful to be nominated, but understood that it was part of the business and was grateful to have just done the film.
