Rush, Weaver honoured at G'Day USA awards

It may have been slightly overshadowed by the Golden Globes on the same night, but all Australian eyes were on the G'Day USA Awards gala in LA instead of the Beverly Hills Hilton. Fellow actors Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush were presented with the Excellence in the Arts award. The Oscar winner, in turn, presented a warning. SOUNDBITE: Geoffrey Rush, saying (English): "I just want to say to the Americans in the audience, please never attempt, unless you're in adult supervision, attempt an Australian accent." Jacki Weaver was presented with the Excellence in Film award by Mel Gibson. She said the U.S. had been welcoming, despite the occasional confusion.
