Iran nuclear deal to take effect on January 20

Officials say the first step to a nuclear deal between Iran and six major powers will come into effect on January 20. The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister made the announcement on television: (SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRANIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER, ABBAS ARAGHCHI, SAYING: (TRANSLATION PROVIDED BY TIMA) "The agreement between us and the 5+1 countries regarding the method of implementation of the first step of the joint action plan also known as the Geneva agreement was finalized." An Iranian official said that after the interim deal takes effect, Tehran and world powers will start negotiating a final settlement… In hopes of settling their differences about activity the West suspects is aimed at obtaining a nuclear weapons capability.
