ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION Indonesia's Mount Sinabung on Tuesday (January 7), spewed more ash and destroyed homes and crops of residents who have been evacuated. The National Disaster Management Agency said about 21,893 people are currently staying in 33 temporary shelters provided by the local government. The first evacuations started on November 24, when the government warned of eruptions from Mount Sinabung, which had remained dormant for four centuries. Residents said the volcano eruption has affected their crop harvest. Many of those staying in nearby villages return to their homes during the day and stay at evacuation centres at night. The Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) has put the volcano status on its highest alert, and advised the public to remain five kilometres away from the volcano crater.
