North Korea celebrates New Year with fireworks

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). STORY: North Korea celebrated the New Year with a fireworks display on Wednesday (January 1). Video provided to Reuters by the North's official media KCNA showed fireworks lighting up the sky above Kim Il Sung square in Pyongyang where thousands of people gathered to mark the New Year. KCNA said the fireworks started at midnight to ring in 2014. The video also showed people offering flowers and bowing to the statues of former leaders Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang.
