Heading into harm's way in South Sudan

Preparing to head into harm's way. On Saturday, the South Sudanese deployed hundreds of troops to regain control of the flashpoint town of Jonglei. The government is hoping to halt the fighting. Violence erupted around the capital Juba last Sunday night and quickly spread to other parts of the country. It pits loyalists of the President against supporters of his former vice president. UN staff says hundreds of people have been killed across the country this week alone. Tens of thousands are homeless. The fighting adds new instability to an already volatile region of Africa, derailing the young and undeveloped nation's halting efforts to build a functioning state. South Sudan declared independence from Sudan in 2011.
