Gaza power plant running again

450,000 litres of fuel from Qatar helped restart a power plant in Gaza Sunday restoring power to the region after being shutdown for more than a month. The regions 1.8 million residents have endured daily blackouts because of the plant's closure. The situation has been made worse by recent storms that flooded the region forcing about 5,000 people to be evacuated. Under years of Israeli sanctions, Gazan businessmen had relied on smugglers bringing goods from Egypt by ways of underground tunnels. But the Egyptian military has since closed the tunnels leaving a lack of supplies like construction materials and most damagingly, cheap Egyptian oil.
