A warm welcome as French troops arrive in Central African Republic. France is deploying 1,600 troops to its former colony, where at least 400 people have died in three days of violence. Unrest has spread in the country after Seleka rebels seized power in March. Authorities have ordered all forces except foreign peacekeepers and the presidential guard off the streets of the Capitol. A senior U.N. aid official says peacekeepers must push into neighborhoods where "senseless" Muslim-Christian killings are rife, not just control the main roads of the capital. This man was attacked Saturday afternoon. His friend says "It's the Muslims who did this with a machete." Thousands have fled the violence with some seeking shelter at an airport where French troops have a base. Some are learning to live without hope.
