School children in India honor Nelson Mandela

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Across India, children in school lit candles and chanted prayers in honor of former South African President Nelson Mandela. The anti-apartheid icon is highly revered in India as a symbol of courage and tolerance and for adopting methods of non-violence and peace similar to that espoused by Mahatma Gandhi. The former South African President was one of the three people of non-Indian origin and the second non-citizen to be awarded the country's highest civilian honor in 1990.
