Bangladesh opposition supporters remove rail lines in protest against poll date

Petrol fires and homemade bombs in Bangladesh, on this, the third day of nationwide protests. Supporters of the opposition party are angry that that government here is moving ahead with elections set for January. They want a caretaker government formed, first, to oversee the election. The dispute over how to handle the election has led to dozens killed during protests and a series of strikes in recent weeks. On Thursday, opposition party supporters dismantled railway lines to disrupt train service. The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, or BNP, wants elections held without Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Hasina and the leader of the BNP are both heirs to political dynasties here. The staunch rivals have rotated as prime minister for most of the last 22 years. This, set against the backdrop of violent protest in one of the world's poorest countries
