Ambassador Caroline Kennedy meets Japanese PM

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Two days before the 50th anniversary of her father's death, new U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy met with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Japanese Prime Minister's official residence. Kennedy, daughter of late U.S. President John F. Kennedy, arrived in Japan last week to take up her first high profile job in public office, making a late start to a political career for which her family is renowned. During the meeting Kennedy told Abe that President Barack Obama has a strong commitment to the United States and Japan alliance and had asked her, as his representative, to work alongside Abe and the Liberal Democratic Party on the many important aspects of the alliance. Kennedy is the first woman to be named US ambassador to Japan and was the center of massive media attention on Tuesday (November 19) when she presented credentials to the Emperor of Japan.
