Poland gas explosion starts massive blaze

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A gas pipeline explosion and fire killed three people and injured at least 10 others, including children, in a small village in western Poland, local media reported on Thursday. The explosion happened at around midday and fire immediately engulfed several households and part of a forest, polish media report. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated. Local police and fire services could not immediately verify the number of dead but told Reuters that 10 people had been transported to a hospital with various injuries and firemen are currently searching the affected area for potentially more casualties. Polish media report 3 people have died. Poland's gas network operator, Gaz-System, said in a statement that its services are currently fixing the damage and that it does not foresee interruptions of gas supplies.
